Suggest an IET Program

Know a program in Hawaiʻi that supports healing through land, ocean, movement, or creative arts? Let the IET research team know about it.

What counts as an IET program?

Innovative Experiential Therapeutics (IET) programs are land-, ocean-, and community-centered experiences that support healing, cultural connection, and wellbeing. They go beyond traditional talk therapy by engaging participants through direct experience with the natural environment, cultural practices, movement, and creative expression.

Ocean Practices

Surfing, paddling, ocean swimming, fishing, canoe paddling, marine cultural traditions

Land Restoration

ʻĀina-based programs — farming, restoration, gardening, native planting, traditional land practices

Movement

Yoga, dance, hiking, fitness, tai chi, embodied wellness practices

Creative Arts

Visual arts, music, hula, storytelling, theater, creative healing modalities

Not an IET program: Clinical therapy sessions, medical treatment, support groups without an experiential/nature-based component, purely recreational tourism, or programs without a wellbeing or healing focus.
